Customer Review: If you seriously wish to learn machine quilting - on your own sewing machine! - read this book. Harriet Hargrave is THE expert in this field. She machiue quilted long before machine quilting was an acceptable art. She explains how to machine quilt with your current sewing machine, which is how she has always done it - on her regular sewing machine. No need for the expensive machines on the market today. It is not a magic bullet. You MUST practice.

Customer Review: This is a great book to give to your grandmothers in order that you may learn more about them. It is very detailed and I am looking forward to getting this back from them all filled out. I suggested that they fill this out a little every day because it can be a little daunting to look at the entire book as needing to be filled in. Definately would recommend this.

Customer Review: The author gives great step-by-step instructions for several toy projects. I've made 3 of them for my son. It's a well written book with good drawings (full sized templates where possible) for some cool toys. It's got airplanes, cars, trucks, trains, and a grasshopper with moving legs. Very polished designs, you can tell the author has made several of the projects a number of times, his advice is great. There is also a lot of variety of designs, which is nice, there are other toy building books that just cover one type (like only trains or only trucks). So... this is the best of all worlds.
It also showed me a few techniques that I've applied to other woodworking projects,...

Customer Review: Delightful book! We make sure that our child's reading is illustrated with a variety of ethinicities (not every single book, but in his library/reading material there is overall representative mix) and I am happy to say that this one contains a nice mixture and its lead character is, of course, African American. Well illustrated. Not as realistic as I usually like books to be but very clear in its representations but with enough blurring of reality to allow for the imagination to almost see him dance on the pages. My son loves this book! It is usually the first or second at bed time as he "tap dances" all the way through the story!
There is one hestitation in my recommen...

Customer Review: Let's face it--there are so many new knitting books out there, no one could buy them all (who has the space, money or time?). So, before purchasing this, I got a copy from my public library, as I always do. I'm glad I did this, especially for this book.
Basically, the book opens with interesting bits of history about American-Norwegians and a library in Iowa, not much about Norway (although many of the items in the Iowan museum did come from Norway). So this book should more properly be titled American-Norwegian Handknits. It's makes for lovely reading, if you want to know about American immigrant Norwegians and their heirloom handknits, or what the immigrants knit once they came to...

Customer Review: I received the book in a timely manner and it was in very good condition. I like to collect ribbon instruction books--especially ribbon embroidery books.

Customer Review: I bought the book for a specific pattern, the knitted spiral ball, but found others in it that I will probably make at some point. Although I have several shelves of knitting books, including many baby pattern books, I am glad to make this book part of my library. The baby aran sweater is particularly sweet, as is the cover sweater. Well-written instructions with lots of good photos and cute babies. A fine book.

Customer Review: This is a great book if you are interested in learning how to do Shetland knitting. The history of Shetland knitting and of wool production from sheep to marketing the final product is an added plus.
I didn't buy this book because I wanted to knit something to wear. I bought it, because I like a challenge in knitting. A difficult pattern pushes me to expand my knitting skills.

Customer Review: This is a great book about button jewelry. I had collected some beautiful buttons over the years and did not know exactly what to do with them, but I knew it would make something beautiful. I never had a class on jewelry making, but I followed the easy steps in the book and made some beautiful things. If you like buttons and jewelry this is a great book to have and to learn from.
Sincerely,
Patricia,
