Customer Review: Very nice gate that ADDS to your home decor instead of looking like a big plastic band-aid stuck to your stairs. Easy to use, pretty easy to install, and so far triplet toddler-proof.

Customer Review: We have two that we use as end tables. Overall, we like them very much. They were well thought out and well packaged, so assembly was quite easy. About the only drawbacks were 1) A minor glitch with assembly steps and 2) The simulated 'leather' tops. As far as assembly, it would make more sense- especially if you're doing the job alone- to secure the external magazine rack to the corresponding side to provide some rigidity before proceeding further. The 'simulated leather' tops are, essentially, paint. An improvement might be to include a clear plastic covering to make the top more durable. (I trimmed down a plastic desk blotter that works nicely.)

Customer Review: This vanity was exactly as advertised, it was delivered in good time and was completely secured in it's packaging. It was simple to put together, my two daughters and myself did this in an evening while watching TV. The wood is a cherry wood finish and nicely compliments other cherry wood pieces in my bedroom. I would certainly recommend this product and its seller and manufacturer to anyone I knew that was looking for a high quality vanity.

Customer Review: The author gives great step-by-step instructions for several toy projects. I've made 3 of them for my son. It's a well written book with good drawings (full sized templates where possible) for some cool toys. It's got airplanes, cars, trucks, trains, and a grasshopper with moving legs. Very polished designs, you can tell the author has made several of the projects a number of times, his advice is great. There is also a lot of variety of designs, which is nice, there are other toy building books that just cover one type (like only trains or only trucks). So... this is the best of all worlds.
It also showed me a few techniques that I've applied to other woodworking projects,...

Customer Review: I stumbled on this book in my library and fell in love with it. I really like the ending because the kids can use their imagination as to what is in the big present that the mouse brought home from the big hungry bear's cave.

Customer Review: Superb boxes. Original designs.
To follow the plans takes a bit more than beginner's knowledge, I think.
Good to read anyway, for a woodworker.
Oh yes: watch the metric/English measure conversions. Page 26: 1500 mm (= l.5 m) = 5 ft (60 in.), not 5 in.
Page 91: 550 mm = 22 in., not 220

Customer Review: Stuart Woods' earlier books are more detailed and deeper than current books. I think he is just having a lot of fun with Stone Barrington, which I love. But the early Will Lee books are outstanding and I can't put them down. I read a couple of later Will Lee books, but decided I better go back to the beginning, starting with Chiefs, which is one of the best books I've ever read. Stuart Woods never disappoints me.

Customer Review: This book is the best, most comprehensive, and beautiful book on the lovespoon that I have found. It has everything a beginner carver would need to know, and addresses everything I ever wondered regarding the lovespoon tradition. It expands on the tradition across several cultures. It has a beautiful gallery of many of the world's very best lovespoon carvers' work, allowing one to get an idea of how much variation there is, and what a truly fine art David and the rest of these great carvers have made it. It meets the needs of carvers, going through everything from sharpening tools, to designing your own patterns, and even includes several of David's beautiful patterns. It includes beautiful ...

Customer Review: I am an advanced beginner carver and I found this book very helpful. I have not carved a santa before and this took me through the all the steps, from rough shaping through final details. It also explained some great painting techniques. As I carver, I was not familiar with painting. Although this book was great for me, it is too advanced for someone who has never carved before.
Are All the Giants Dead

Customer Review: This wonderful book was written in 1975 by Mary Norton (1903-92), the author of the incomparable Borrowers stories. It tells the story of James, whose dream takes him to a distant land, where he meets many of the characters of old folktales, such as Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Jack-the-Giant-Slayer and Jack-of-the-Beanstalk. But, they are all old now, and past adventures. But, when the daughter of Beauty and the Beast (Boofy and Beau to their friends) needs help, James rises to the occasion. Although he's usually a fan of Science fiction, James must maneuver himself and the girl through this magical wonderland, in search of a magical frog, and answering the question, "...

Customer Review: The book has some very interesting plans and good photos for those how like to work with wood and make toys for children and as keepsakes.
However this is not for the begining wood worker. The plans were not proofed before printing, there are many mesurmetments missing or do not agree with parts list. Unless the part is drawn to scale you will need to make it to fit on your own.
Having a complete wood shop, I found that I had to use many tools that were not listed as needed in the book. In some cases I needed to improvise, such as using my drill press as a vertical lathe. Just watch the grain paterns as shown and you will be able to produce somthing to be proud of.
